For me, fall is the beginning of the social season. Everyone is back from their summer vacations, and getting ready for the holidays. Work parties and family get-togethers are on the calendar. Although it’s exhausting, you always want to look and feel your best.

I like to add a little something new to my wardrobe every season. Something vintage, classic, and chic are my go-to preference. I find these pieces in out-of-the-way places. I love going to flea, and open-air markets; Garage, and estate sales, especially in the fall. I believe you can set yourself apart by even the smallest nuance.

I collect vintage hats, pins, jewelry, scarves, and handbags. I like to incorporate elements that have a longer shelf life and will appreciate over time.

I often get complimented on my unusual pieces because no one else has them. They are not mass-produced or fast fashion, and for the most part, are not expensive. They’re heirloom pieces that have been overlooked, no one recognized their value. The care it took to produce these items is evident, and it’s classic. The difference is that it’s not trendy it’s timeless. This brown shade hat I’m wearing I purchased at the Hester Street Fair in the lower east side of Manhattan where I lived for over ten years. It only cost $5.00, and it’s my favorite.

Certainly living in a city allows you greater access to everything. However, I have found my greatest treasures in the most unexpected, out-of-the-way places. There is an opportunity wherever you are, you just have to look for it.
